FAQs
How are the Centrifuges 5804/ 5804 R and 5810/ 5810 R protected during transport? Is there a transport protection device? No, the Centrifuges 5804/ 5804 R and 5810/ 5810 R do not come with a transport protection device. They are packaged in polystyrene for protection. Because the rotor is not in the centrifuge during transport, there are no movable parts to make a transport protection device necessary.
Can I still change the settings when I have started the Centrifuges 5804/ 5804 R or 5810/ 5810 R?Yes, the speed, the time and the temperature can be changed even when the centrifuge is running. To do this, please press the SPEED, TIME or TEMP key and change the values by pressing the arrow keys.
How can I recognize in the display of the Centrifuges 5804/ 5804 R or 5810/ 5810 R whether I have selected "rpm" or "rcf"?For rcf, a "*" is displayed in front of the value. rpm is not indicated by a symbol.
What is the minimum rotational speed (rpm) of the Centrifuge 5804/ 5804 R or 5810/ 5810 R, and in which increments can it be increased? The minimum rotational speed is 200 rpm, irrespective of the inserted rotor. The minimum rotational speed can be increased in increments of 10 rpm up to 5,000 rpm and then in increments of 100 rpm.
Is it possible to adjust the Centrifuge 5804/ 5804 R or 5810/ 5810 R so that it stops on its own, meaning without active braking?Yes. Free deceleration of your centrifuge can be achieved by setting the braking level to 0.
"Clean rotor" appears on the display of my centrifuge. Do I now need to remove the rotor from the centrifuge, and, if yes, how? This display appears every 200 centrifugation runs. For cleaning the rotor and the rotor chamber, the rotor must first be removed from the centrifuge. To do this, loosen the rotor nut by turning it counter-clockwise with the supplied rotor key. Please clean the rotor and rotor chamber only with mild cleaning agents (e.g. 70% alcohol solutions or commercially available alcoholic disinfectants).
The Centrifuges 5804/ 5804 R and 5810/ 5810 R are programmable. What is saved during the programming? All data is saved that can also be entered manually, such as rotational speed or RCF, maximum radius, run time, acceleration and braking ramps, "at set rpm", temperature.
Is it possible to centrifuge 50 mL and 15 mL tubes together in one rotor?Yes, it is possible, provided that the rotor is loaded symmetrically. This means that the 50 mL tubes and the 15 mL tubes are positioned opposite one another and are positioned symmetrically. Please use the appropriate adapters for the tubes.
Does Eppendorf offer a rotor for PCR strips for Centrifuges 5804/ 5804 R or 5810/ 5810 R?The PCR strip rotor F-45-48-PCR is available under the order number 5804 735.005. It can centrifuge up to 6 x 8-well strips at 12,000 rpm / 15,350 x g.
In which rotor is it possible to centrifuge 50 mL DIN glass tubes?50 mL DIN glass tubes (diameter 34 mm, length 100 mm) can be centrifuged in the adapter for 50 - 75 ml tubes (order number 5804 760.000) of the swing-bucket rotor A-4-44. Depending on the length of the tube, the uppermost module of the adapter can be removed for centrifugation of 50 mL DIN glass tubes.
Millipore offers centrifugation filter tubes (Centripreps). Can these tubes be centrifuged in a rotor of the Centrifuge 5804/5804 R or 5810/5810 R?Yes, for 50 ml Centripreps we offer the adapter 5810 739.004 for the rotor A-4-81.
Into which rotor of the Centrifuge 5804/5804 R or 5810/5810 R do 15 ml and 30 ml Corex tubes fit? With a rubber adapter (outer diameter 18 mm) available from the tube manufacturer, the 15 ml Corex tubes fit into the adapter 5804 772.008 of the rotor F-34-6-38. With a rubber adapter (outer diameter 29 mm) available from the tube manufacturer, the 30 ml Corex tubes fit into the adapter 5804 774.000 of the rotor F-34-6-38. This rotor can be inserted into the Centrifuge 5804/5804 R or 5810/5810 R.
How big is the g-force difference between the lowest and the highest plate when loading a bucket of the rotor A-2-DWP with four microplates? The following g-forces are reached with the rotor A-2-DWP: Lowest plate: 2,250 x g Highest plate: 1,825 x g
Is there an adapter for slides?Up to 12 slides can be inserted into the CombiSlide adapter and then centrifuged in the swing-bucket rotors of Centrifuge 5804/ 5804 R or 5810/ 5810 R.
Does the Centrifuge 58xx R has an energy saving function?Yes, the ECO shut-off automatically switchs off the compressor after 8 hours of non-use. The device has a stand-by button.
What is the meaning of the red knob on the rotor lid?A fixed-angle rotor with a red knob on the rotor lid indicates aerosol-tightness.
